Aidyn Lorraine Mills received her PhD in cultural anthropology from the University of Virginia. Her research focused on the politics of gender, sexuality, and migration, specifically on migrant feminists' creative practices in Spain. Also an artist, Aidyn is currently pursuing an MFA with the Art Institute of Chicago. She explores the intersections of art and anthropology, experimenting with artistic modalities for research and representation, and critical inquiry for artistic practice.
Her background includes extensive community work with the Charlottesville Human Rights Commission, the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, the Sexual Assault Resource Agency, and the creation of the Rise Campaign, which encouraged women and girls to rise above unhealthy representations of women and girls in the media.
