Reducing Sexual Harassment at UVA

A Day of Discussion
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
9am to 5pm, Harrison Institute Auditorium

The 2018 National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report, Sexual Harassment of Women:  Climate, Culture, and Consequences in Academic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (pdf copy available free of charge at outlines the problem of sexual harassment in academia and provides 15 recommendations to reduce sexual harassment for faculty staff, and students in academic settings. On Oct. 10, we will hold a day-long series of events on this subject, with the primary focus of workshops on a prioritized set of the 15 recommendations. In addition to these workshops, we will have a panel with local experts. We have already confirmed as a keynote speaker one member of the NAS ad hoc committee that prepared the report. The UVa Day of Discussion will be addressed to colleagues across A&S and also Medicine. It is explicitly intended to focus on all forms of sexual harassment, e.g., harassment of men as well as of women.
