Black and Indigenous Feminist Futures Institute

The Black and Indigenous Feminist Futures Institute (BIFFI) promotes interdisciplinary and intersectional feminist research, scholarship, and cultural production at the intersection of Black Studies and Indigenous Studies. Through our work, we facilitate exchange between scholars working in these fields by hosting Fellows-in-Residence, convening manuscript workshops, and creating gathering spaces for scholars, students, practitioners, and community members to engage with one another. Housed in the Department of Women, Gender, & Sexuality, BIFFI's work is funded by the Mellon Foundation and takes place on Monacan lands in Central Virginia.
